POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT – Postdoc in Statistical Ecology

POSITION: Post-doctoral Fellow

LOCATION: Colorado Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit, Colorado State
University, Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

APPOINTMENT: 12-month, with the possibility to extend contingent on available
funding and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Must have a PhD in statistics, ecology/biology, or closely related field by the
start of employment. Must also have demonstrated experience publishing scientific
papers in the areas of statistics or quantitative ecology. Must have the ability to develop
and implement Bayesian hierarchical statistical models.

Highly Desirable: Working knowledge of unix/linux computer operating systems,
proficiency with the R software, experience with population demographic models,
experience developing custom software to fit Bayesian models, and an ability to
communicate and collaborate with stakeholders on research.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The postdoctoral fellow will work with Prof. Mevin
Hooten at CSU and collaborators at the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies and Oregon
State University to develop statistical models that integrate several data sources and
improve our understanding of Lesser Prairie-Chicken populations. Expected outcomes
include the publication of scientific manuscripts describing the methodology and findings
related to the study.

SALARY AND FRINGE BENEFITS: Annual salary is $60,000. Sick leave, group
