Research Assistant II: Biometrician, Quantitative Fisheries Center (QFC)/Michigan State University

Responsibilities: We seek a research assistant with strong background in statistics/biometry to provide a variety of statistical and modeling support for staff, students, and supporting partners of the QFC. The assistant will participate in projects involving stock assessment methods, harvest policy analysis, and management strategy evaluations. The assistant will participate in the preparation and delivery of on-line and short-courses on quantitative fisheries methods, and assist in preparing/editing reports and articles for peer-review publication. Salary: $46,000 plus benefits.

Qualifications: BS in statistics/fisheries science or related discipline + three-years work experience in statistical analysis/modeling of fishery-related issues. Experience with generalized linear modeling, hierarchical modeling, Bayesian inference, and sampling/experimental design. MS degree and experience with analyzing or designing creel surveys, mark-recapture/tag-recovery studies, and/or developing fishery stock assessment models preferred.
