Postby bence » Tue Jan 03, 2017 3:10 pm

Post-Doctoral Research Associate, Quantitative Fisheries Center, Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, Michigan State University

Description:
We seek research associates to lead/assist in several quantitative fisheries projects involving stock assessment methods, fishery management policy analysis, and ecological data analysis and modeling. These projects could include developing and fitting a fish community assessment model for the main basin of Lake Huron focused on salmonines, other predators, and their prey fish; and evaluation of alternative fishery assessment and harvest strategies used in 1836 treaty waters of the Great Lakes using simulations, but it is likely you will also have the opportunity to apply similar methods to other ecological systems and fisheries. Interest/experience with engaging agency personnel and stakeholders at the interface of technical analysis and resource management is desired. You may also participate in other QFC activities, including preparation for and delivery of on-line and short-courses on quantitative fisheries methods and participating in consulting projects with QFC supporting partners.

Qualifications:
PhD in fisheries science, ecology, statistics or related discipline with a strong record of research productivity in quantitative methods as applied to fisheries or ecological systems.

Salary:
$47,500 per year plus benefits. Initial appointment is for 1 year with possibility of extensions for subsequent years on an annual basis.

Closing date:
Until filled
