Spatially explicit capture–recapture using DENSITY
Half-day short course in Hobart, Tasmania, 24 November 2005, at the conference of the Australasian Wildlife Management Society www.awms.org.nz.
Spatially explicit capture–recapture (SECR) is a suite of methods for estimating density and detection parameters. SECR frees population sampling from worries about edge effects, and deals with some of the heterogeneity that bugs conventional capture–recapture. This course introduces SECR and other capabilities of the software DENSITY, and previews future development. The software may be downloaded along with background papers from

Please indicate your interest on the AWMS conference registration form Section 3 (early bird registration through 16 October 2005) or contact Murray Efford (effordm@landcareresearch.co.nz). A course fee will be charged to cover costs.
