Using "LDLDLD" encounter historyformat in U-care

Postby hhh5 » Sun Feb 20, 2011 2:53 pm

Hi
I have been looking through the FAQ, the U-care manual and the Mark manual without finding an answer to my question. I hope I have been using the right terminology and not missed something obvious. My question is if it possible to use "LDLDLD" encounterhistory format as described in chapter 2 in the Mark manual? I have data series spanning 51 years (51 occasions) but when read into U-Care it is counted as 102 occasions. If this is not possible do I have to change the setup of the data to "LLLL" with negative values for individuals removed through hunting or is there another more suitable way?

I hope I am not misunderstanding anything or missing some obvious point.

Thanks in advance
Dáni

Hello,
The LD format is not straighly available rather you must use
'1' for capture alive instead of 'L' and
'2' for found dead instead of 'D'.
No negative values is needed.
UCare will asked you if the state 2 is an absorbing state. Reply yes.
Sincerely,
