Problems with input file in U-CARE

Postby EmmaRigby » Thu Oct 02, 2008 11:31 am

Hello,
I'm trying to feed a multistate encounter history for MARK into U-CARE to do GOF testing but when I verify the file it tells me that there is an error on line 1. I've tried numerous ways of setting out the file and have looked at .inp files supplied with MARK that work fine in U-CARE but can't work out where I'm going wrong. My file looks like:

0AA0000000 1 1 0 ;
0A00000000 1 0 1 ;
0A00000000 1 0 1 ;
0A00000000 1 0 1 ;

where the first column indicates it is an individual covariate, the second is sex and the third is age. There is 1 space infront of the covariate column and 2 infront of the other 2 columns and the semicolon. I've also imported the file into word and looked at formatting to see if anything looks a bit unusual but it seems fine.

I presume it's something very simpe I've overlooked so if anyone can offer any advice I'd be very grateful!

Hello,

Letters like 'A,B, etc' are not allowed in U-CARE.
Just replaced all of them by '1, 2 ...'

See page 41, second paragraph, of Chapter 8 of the MARK book, where this was noted explicitly. Since you're fitting MS models, you might want to have a read of this chapter generally (whether you're using MARK or not).
