If I would like to discuss mortality rates instead of survival rates, obviously I take 1-survival=mortality. However, is it possible to transform the SE associated with the survival rate to an SE associated with the mortality rate?

No transformation necessary. The SE for survival (\phi) and mortality (1-\phi) is the same.
