SE for mean p from 2-mixture closed model

Postby jlaufenb » Thu Jan 20, 2011 2:18 pm

Given model averaged parameter estimates piA (SE), pA (SE), and pB (SE) from a 2-mixture closed population analysis, and based on Carothers (1973, bottom pg 81), the mean capture probability across the 2 mixtures = (piA*pA)+((1-piA)*pB). How would I calculate a single SE for that mean p?

Try the Delta method -- Appendix 2 in the book.
