ORD missing time periods

Hi, I've got a series of missing time intervals for my MSORD structure. The mark handbook suggested using the dot notation "." for a missing time period, however in this post viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3708&p=12459&hilit=missing+time#p12459 it was suggested not to use the dot notation and to "use time.intervals to specify the gaps (in days) between the daily occasions in which you sampled. For example, if the capture history was 11..0...10 the time.intervals would be 1,3,4,1. "
However I'm slightly confused how this can be applied to the open robust design structure where the primary period is denoted by a non-zero number, e.g if my encounter history is 0 . . 0 0 0 5 0 0 2 for two primary periods, but I have 2 missing time intervals in the first primary period, how can I tell r without it thinking I'm adding in another primary period? From what I understand it would be 0 2 0 0 5 0 0 2, but then that implies I've added another primary period?
Hope that makes sense!
Cheers
