-1.#IND00 in model output

Postby jle1121 » Wed Jan 22, 2020 6:12 pm

I am getting an error in my beta and SE estimate outputs that say "-1.#IND00". My c-hat value is well below 0. My continuous covariates are all z-standardized. Any ideas on what is happening or how to fix this issue?

It's likely a problem related to PRESENCE being unable to approximate the variance-covariance (VC) matrix properly, which can have a variety of causes. Check the output carefully for warnings about the VC matrix, then read the forum FAQ and search the forum for some possible solutions - similar questions have be covered here before.

c-hat below zero??? Did you mean below 1.0?

The "-1.#IND00" for SE estimates is usually the result of 1) sparse data relative to model complexity, or 2) estimates at a boundary (zero or one). If it's #2, you can ignore the SE's for those parameters as it is undefined. If it's #1, then simplify the model.
