Correlated detection query

Postby niel » Tue Sep 25, 2018 6:59 am

Hello,

I have a question in regards to correlated detection. I have bat boxes setup across eight sites. The bat boxes are of differing design and I want to investigate whether a particular box design/design element (e.g. box colour, box material, box installation host) was favoured by bats occupying the boxes.

The issue I have is that boxes were installed in pairs, e.g. a black and white plywood box installed on the same pole. The detection of bats / occupancy of boxes among paired boxes should probably not be considered as independent and I was wondering how to best deal with that in PRESENCE.

As I understand it, the correlation detection model allows me to treat my eight sites as spatially dependent but it does not resolve the issue of dependency of paired boxes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
