inp file extension

questions concerning analysis/theory using program MARK

inp file extension

Postby dkeefe » Thu Jul 23, 2020 10:09 am

I have created a file with covariates (will add later) and have pasted from excel to Notepad++ but the data is out of alignment.
does this matter? or is there a way to align the data. for example some of the data looks like this:

/* 20 */ 11 209 243
/* 21 */ 11 334 334
/* 22A */ 11 15 15
/* 22B */ 15 331 331
/* 23A */ 11 85 85
/* 23B */ 85 269 269
/* 24 */ 21 348 348
/* 25 */ 21 266 303
/* 26 */ 21 99 195
/* 27 */ 21 330 330

I'm not sure how your post is relevant to this thread. Nor is it clear whether your are using MARK interface or the RMark interface. You are mixing MARK input and RMark input formats. MARK uses the /* comments and not RMark. Also MARK requires a ; at the end but not for RMark. Without more explanation I can't tell what type of data/model you are using. I certainly don't see a capture history. What possible reason would you use Notepad++ for a data file. If there are tabs between fields then it can work fine but look out of alignment.

Sorry was on vacation.

Hey, I am very new to this. Wrong thread...oops. I am using Mark nest survival and covariates:

Here is an example of what excel creates when i concatenate:
/* 12 */ 7 13 23 1 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 57 55.5 15.4 17.1 ;
/* 13 */ 7 170 257 1 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 39 56.25 15.4 17.1 ;
/* 14 */ 4 371 371 0 1 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 18 58.2 18.1 17.7 ;
/* 15 */ 7 22 27 1 1 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 7 52 17 17 ;
/* 16 */ 7 147 153 1 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 53 52.5 10.2 16 ;
/* 17 */ 9 100 103 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 42 53.5 10.2 16 ;
/* 18 */ 9 10 36 1 1 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 10 57 12 16 ;
/* 19 */ 9 333 333 0 1 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 10 55.5 12 16 ;
/* 20 */ 11 209 243 1 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 32 55.8 12.2 16.1 ;

Mark book suggests using Notepad++ or other similar software to create the inp file so I pasted the data into Notepad++. The above data is out of alignment was wondering if there is an easy way to align or must it be done manually?
