Multistate with tag (dead) recovery only

Postby nturner » Tue Feb 04, 2020 10:12 am

Just looking for some advice!
I have two datasets I am working with...

The first is a telemetry data set that I have modeled using the multi-state live dead model (estimates of Psi, p, S, r)

The second is a historical tagging study with dead recoveries (one initial tagging event with a location and a second recovery event with a location). I have also modeled this data with the multi-state live dead model successfully.

My hope is to be able to compare (somewhat) results from the two models looking at historical and current movement/survival as both data sets focus on one species of interest.

However I am not sure if this is the best way to go about modelling the historical dead recovery data set as there are no live resights.

Although the p (resight) indicates it is the probability of recapture or resight at time i - which allows me to believe that it is appropriate to run the MS livedead model for the historical data set.

I've gotten myself into a bit of a rabbit hole and was just hoping for some advice or suggestions.

Thanks in advance!
