simple question on data coding for removals

Postby dtempel » Fri Dec 15, 2017 12:36 pm

I'm almost embarrassed to ask this question, but I want to make sure. Say I'm coding individual capture histories, with 6 sampling occasions and no groups. Sticking with Evan's example in Chapter 2 of the MARK guide, let's say we have an individual that was marked on the first occasion, not seen on the next two occasions, and seen again on the fourth occasion, at which point it was removed from the study.

Would you code this information with 2 lines in the input file?
100100 1;
100100 -1;

Or would you code it with one line?
100100 -1;
