Overview

EURING 2003 will be held at the Radolfzell Ornithological Institute, in Radolfzell, Germany, from October 5-12.

Radolfzell is a small city with about 29,000 inhabitants in Southern Germany, situated directly at the western shore of Bodensee (Lake Constance), on an axis between the larger cities Singen and Konstanz (Constance). The border to Switzerland is 8 km away across the western end of Lake Constance. The direct distance to Zürich is 50 km. Most info about the city unfortunately is only available in German but probably also the pictures may give you an idea about the place. If you load the city map you find the railway station (Bahnhof) next to the blue sign "P 2" near the lower border of the graph. The hotels with the prebooked rooms are located at the numbers (23) and (24) few meters east of the market place (Marktplatz). If you scroll the map a bit up (click near the upper border of the frame) you see a red building symbol labelled "TKM". This is the "Tagungs- und Kulturzentrum Milchwerk" where we will hold our meeting.

Meeting Facility

The city hall of Radolfzell ("Tagungs- und Kulturzentrum Milcherk (TKM)") is used for concerts and cultural events as well as for conferences and meetings. This former factory for dairy products has been converted into a well equipped and appealing centre with several halls and meeting rooms for 30 to 1100 participants. For our purposes the small hall ("Kleiner Saal") with a maximum of 139 seats is booked for the lectures and the foyer is suitable for the posters. We also have an additional room where we will get our meals and which can be used as an additional meeting room for informal sessions.

Slide and transparency projection equipment as well as video proejctors and laptops (IBM compatible) are available. In order not to waste valuable time with changing computers it is highly recommended that participants either (i) bring their presentations on CD-ROM, ZIP Drive (up to 250 MB), floppy disk or memory stick (USB, if necesary including driver on floppy disk). The conference will support presentations in PowerPoint, Corel Presentations, or Adobe PDF formats only.

Posters can be fixed on Monday October 6 and stay in the foyer until the end of the meeting. They should not exceed the size of 90 x 120 cm.

Because of its size and location, there are no options for direct air travel to Radolfzell - we anticipate that most participants will travel to Radolfzell by air to an airport in a nearby city, and then make there way from there to Radolfzell.

From these airports there are good train connections to Radolfzell. Travel time by train from Friedrichshafen is 1:30 hrs, from Zürich 1:25 - 2 hrs, and from Stuttgart 3 hrs. It is less convenient to come by train from Frankfurt Airport (4-5 hrs) or from München (Munich) Airport (5-6 hrs).
