Questions concerning EURING 2003
electronic
uploading web page
This webpage was created to let you easily and efficiently upload your
EURING 2003 presentations via the Web. While using the web page is
pretty easy, there are occasionally a couple of things that you might
wonder about:
- Why do we need to upload our files? Simple - as more an more people
use electronic presentations, mounted off their own laptops, there is the
obvious and growing problem of how to connect multiple laptops to a single
computer projector. The solution is simple - one computer, one projector. The
uploaded files will be mounted on this single computer.
- does it matter what presentation format I use? - Well, the upload
system doesn't care, but the meeting organiers do - the acceptable formats
are (i) MS PowerPoint, (ii) Corel Presentation, and (iii) Adobe PDF. If
you use anything else, we'll do our best to 'make it work', but be advised
we might not be able to.
- do I need to fill out all parts of the form? - The
general answer is
"yes". In fact, the form will check to make sure you do before allowing
you to submit your file. The only part of the form that is optional (as
indicated) is the box for 'additional information'. You can leave this
blank unless you want to send further details to the meeting organizers.
- how do I know the file has made it there? - As long as you
don't receive any error messages, then the file will be delivered to the
meeting organizers.
- will it matter if the file I submit has the same filename as one
someone else submits? - Unlikely, but...no - the system automatically
assigns unique
file names to the files before sending them.
- I can see the web page, but it won't 'let' me upload -
Invariably, this means that either (i) your browser is too old, or (ii)
the browser has certain features activated which are not letting you
upload your file. In case of the former, time to upgrade. If the latter, sorry
- can't help from here.
